There are two Aviation Shops, one at Terminal one arrivals, the other at the Aviation Viewing Park, see shop page for new weekly offers.

LAAS International, the highly respected publishers of “Aviation News and Review”  and now Solent Aviation Society, publishers of “Osprey” have kindly agreed to share their archived “web wanderings” and spotting abroad articles with us. I will be placing them within the “Spotting abroad” section on this site. These new entries should compliment our archives nicely, thus helping this area to become a great source of information.

This website is really a travel agent portal site but it does have a  very good news section with several years of archived reports

Information about TAS and how to join has its own dedicated pages

(see link above)

Security at airports around the world has not eased at all, in many cases it has become increasingly difficult to carry out our hobby without arousing suspicions from passers by and security.Probably fueled by that fact, I have had many requests from members asking for TAS to begin an Enthusiasts ID scheme. I have discussed this matter with TAS management and it has been decided not to start our own system, but instead to encourage those interested, to join the TAESS scheme which was founded and developed by David Seex of LAAS. The system has been running for several years now and is recognized worldwide, with the card scheme comes a multi language translation explaining our hobby, that has got to be worth the subscription on its own !!

Unfortunately UK Home Office rules forbid the re-transmitting of ATC transmissions in the UK, however there is nothing to stop you listening to other feeds on this great site, it offers live ATC from around the world   (not UK), check out New York JFK at rush hour !. Also of great interest is the Oceanic HF feed, this enables you to monitor aircraft over the Atlantic.

The re-transmitting of ADS-B data online, is also not allowed in the UK. This site (operating outside the UK) collates uploaded data feeds from around the world and displays on Google Maps or Google Earth, there is a 5 min delay on the data but it can be useful if you dont own an SBS / Airnav box.

Provisional itinerary for Paris airshow and China available on the overseas excursion page.

Happy New Year everyone, although on the worldwide stage, I am not sure what there is to be happy about !. The doom and gloom continues in the  international financial and domestic markets and we now have an escalating conflict in the Middle East !

On the aviation front at Manchester, the holiday period was  very quiet, but there were a few highlights, one of note was the christmas day arrival of a Etihad A340 on route to Toronto, however the enjoyment of seeing this aircraft disappeared after finding out that it was the on board death of a small child, which caused the diversion.

The weekend Air Europa invasion continues for those keen enough to stay up late, I think I will wait for a visit to Palma to catch them !

The TAS social evenings start this Monday (5th) with a presentation on the recent TAS tour of Moscow, so please come along and lets get the year rolling.
